Cyber Security Intern

ABM is seeking intern for an approximately eight-week, full-time (40 hrs. /week) paid internship opportunity for an individual looking to pursue a career in Information Technology (IT) with a specialization in Cyber & Information Security (Infosec). This position will provide hands-on experience in a full range of IT related tasks and systems. Responsibilities will include providing support and assisting cyber & information security personnel in the implementation and/or maintenance and troubleshooting of security appliances-hardware, software, and various tools and process to foster a secure operating environment. 

This individual will assist our CISO program with responsibilities that will include working to support our Security Engineering, Architecture, Operations & Client Solutions team. As your knowledge and experience expand, you will have opportunities to collaborate with our internal team members on our implementation of security-based appliances, processes, programs, well-defined best practices, and creating technical content. You'll also be able to analyze existing capabilities and determine their effectiveness through testing and provide solutions for improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities will include providing support and assisting cyber & information security personnel in the implementation and/or maintenance and troubleshooting of security appliances-hardware, software, and various tools and process to foster a secure operating environment.
  • This individual will assist our Information Security Technology program with responsibilities that will include supporting the security awareness program, implementation of security controls across our cloud and on-premises solutions, and responding to customer security inquiries.
  • As your knowledge and experience expand, you will have opportunities to collaborate with our internal team members on our implementation of training, well-defined best practices, and creating technical content
  • Analyze existing capabilities and determine their effectiveness through testing and provide solutions for improvement.
  • Assist in metrics framework to evaluate and track the effectiveness of the various cyber security tools and processes, including KPI’s and KRI’s for the overall program.
  • Continuously keep up on industry trends, direction, opportunities, threats, and applicability as it pertains to the organization.
  • Develop content over a wide range of delivery medium, including corporate intranet pages, email campaigns, presentations, and tangible items to communicate the cyber security stakeholder information.
  • Working with project teams to of organizational objectives.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned, but line managers, directors, or the CISO.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s/ graduate level degree or cyber program certificate in an Information Technology or computer related field.
  • Understand the architecture, administration, management and the security issues of operating systems, networking and virtualization software
  • Ability to follow-up and complete duties in a timely manner with a high level of accuracy
  • Strong ability to think creatively when approaching issues.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptionally self-motivated, directed and detail oriented.
  • Ability to establish credibility and working relationships with a wide range of corporate personnel, including operations, management, executive and legal staff as well as external contractors or third-party personnel.
  • Excellent communicator.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior related internship experience
