About the Team

The Workday Data Platform Engineering Organization in Business Technology takes pride in enabling data driven business outcomes to mobilize Workday’s growth through trusted data excellence, innovation and architecture thought leadership. The team's key objective is to empower data engineering, analytics engineering, data scientists, and various business partners by building scalable data platforms, tooling/reusable frameworks, data quality and anomaly detection framework to fuel potential, reducing decision latency using self-service architecture in cloud environments.

Data platform will be the central data repository with various data domain assets for decision-making process through self-service dashboards, domain specific ad-hoc self-self-capability.

 

About the Role

We are looking for a Data Engineering Intern who is passionate about solving exciting problems with research and collaborating with Data Engineers. You’ll be working on platform tooling/capabilities or reusable frameworks which focus on efficiency, scalability, expandability, flexibility, all with the goal to help empower teams. This hands-on role focuses on implementing data platform vision, planning and carrying out the roadmap to enable platform capabilities.

 

As a key player of the data platform team, our team will architect and craft the data platform to empower and implement data applications, including data ingestion framework, Data Observability, Data Quality, Anomaly detection, Data Lake/Data warehouse, business intelligence, APIs and reporting systems. The team will improve data platform performance and reliability, and opportunities to collaborate with industry standard innovative technology partners and authorities to improve efficiency through automation.

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with an anticipated graduation date no earlier than December 2025
  • You can commit to a in-person full-time internship program for 12-weeks during the summer of 2025 and will return to university studies after the conclusion of the internship
  • Currently pursuing a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar engineering program
  • Working knowledge in Python, SQL, Data Structures and Algorithms, Database Management
  • Knowledge on any of these cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), preferred : AWS
  • Knowledge of Object Oriented Programming Concepts
  • Open-minded and flexible, with a can-do attitude
  • Prior internship, coursework, or relevant project experience with working in date

 

Other Qualifications

  • Familiarity with DEVOps/SecOps pipelines or CI/CD implementations

Workday Pay Transparency Statement

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below.  Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Recruiters can share more detail during the hiring process. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things.
