Curriculum Development Specialist

Summary 

The Curriculum Development Specialist is responsible for developing training programs and courseware using Air Force Handbook (AFH) 36-2235 Volume 3 and applicable style and standards guides. Designs, develops, tests, debugs and implements operating systems components, software tools and utilities. Determines systems software design requirements. Creates courseware multimedia content using a development software platform.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Creates IMI level-3 and level-4 courseware for US DoD and international defense and security customers using Unity Gaming Engine, Autodesk software, and standard learning content development tools.
  • Develops 3D graphics of complex aircraft systems.
  • Performs computer-based curriculum development responsibilities including
  • developing, updating, and maintaining the delivered KC-46 MTS IMI, electronic
  • media and supporting documentation.
  • Assists in ISD front-end analysis of instructional designs through interaction with subject matter experts (SMEs) and/or customer representatives while

ensuring compliance with required standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Develops, tests, releases and implements TSCO based IMI and Electronic media improvements on a quarterly basis or sooner when required.
  • Revises ISD documents and electronic training materials based on reviews by management, quality assurance, and the customer’s needs.
  • Designs and develops web-based real-time simulations and emulations.
  • Meets standards for cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Uses established standards for format and style, procedures for design and development of courseware documents, and training materials.
  • Exercises good judgment in interpreting instructions and assumes responsibility for accuracy and completeness of work produced. Employees are held accountable for all duties of this job.
  • Works independently or with other team members and customers to validate training materials.
  • Travels and performs other duties as required.

Qualifications and Education Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Game Design, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or similar technical field; or direct experience in computer- based curriculum development.
  • One year experience in instructional analysis, development, delivery, or technical writing.
  • 2 years of experience as a graphics designer or multimedia specialist in any industry. · One year experience using game engines to develop games, simulations, emulations, and/or training materials.
  • One year experience developing software using C#, C++, Java, or a similar object-oriented language
  • Proficiency in the Unity game engine, Autodesk software, and standard learning content development tools.
  • Experience in 3D modeling.
  • Experience in Learning Content Management Systems, Learning Management Systems, and databases.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Must be able to clearly express technical concepts and procedures to nontechnical audiences.
  • Excellent data entry skills and accuracy in designing lesson content.
  • Good writing and spelling skills, attention to detail, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to accept direction from other managers on various projects.
  • Working knowledge of the complete ISD process, ADDIE, and creation of curriculum content.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Basic knowledge of FTD and/or aircraft maintenance training.

Preferred Experience

  • 3 years of practical experience developing content from SMEs, Instructional designers including content delivered through an LMS
  • Experience developing training programs, multimedia courseware, aviation maintenance training and CAI. 
  • Experience with Git or similar version-management software.
  • Proficiency in PHP. 
  • Experience developing educational materials. · Experience designing and developing government training curricula.

Additional Experience

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Must be able to clearly express technical concepts and procedures.
  • Excellent data entry skills and accuracy in designing lesson content
  • Good writing and spelling skills, attention to detail, and proofreading skills
  • Ability to accept direction from other managers on various projects.
  • Working knowledge of the complete ISD process and creation of curriculum content
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Basic knowledge of FTD and/or aircraft maintenance training.
  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role. 
  • Understanding of military protocols and customs is essential 
  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance
  • Military background clearance check for access to base

Security Responsibilities 

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.  Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.  All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.  

  •  Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance. 

Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role. 

Work Environment 

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. 

  • Must be able to access actual aircraft environment or synthetic training devices on occasion.

  • Must have the ability to travel and work overtime as necessary.
  • Must be able to sit and operate a personal computer for long periods
