Undergraduate Moodle Support Helpdesk Technician
The e-Learning and Instructional Support office is seeking an undergraduate e-Learning Technician to join the Moodle Support Help Desk team. This position does not require prior technology experience as we offer a full training program. You must be a full-time undergraduate student at Oakland University to qualify.
This position is ideal for students who are interested in developing skills in supporting faculty/instructors, teaching and learning, instructional design, and higher education, though many of the skills you will develop are broadly applicable in a variety of workplace settings. We encourage students in any major to apply!
Please note that this job is software troubleshooting and customer service. Those looking for a computer science, IT, or programming-related role may not find this work to be the best fit.
The selected candidate will:
- Provide online, phone, and chat support to faculty, staff, and students who need help with e-learning programs including Moodle and Zoom.
- Assist the e-LIS Instructional Design team to develop instructional materials (videos, documentation, learning activities, course reviews, etc.).
- Research and test emerging educational technologies and new software versions of the programs we support.
- Perform reception duties, including answering phones and entering support tickets into an online ticketing system.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working on a team and collaborating on projects.
- Ability to complete work by established deadlines.
- Customer service experience and/or experience in an online learning environment (as a student or teacher) can be helpful in this role.
