Entry-Level Water/Wastewater Engineer
AECOM is actively seeking an Entry-Level Water/Wastewater Engineer in the Greater Hartford area to join the AECOM Water team in Rocky Hill, Connecticut.
The initial assignment will be fieldwork on a construction site in Fairfield County, Connecticut.
This position is expected to begin in May/June 2025.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
Prepare engineering-related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids.
Prepare design drawings, plans, sections, details, and profiles/sections within the Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD MEP.
Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
Water/Wastewater treatment evaluation and design.
Pump station evaluation and design.
Water distribution system hydraulic modeling, analysis, and design.
Sewer collection system evaluation and design.
Stormwater modeling, analysis, and design.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
A valid U.S. Driver’s License is required to regularly drive AECOM vehicles to project sites.
As a condition of employment, the selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
Preferred Qualifications:
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE).
GIS and CAD skills.
Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software.
Basic knowledge of industry-standard computer software for the position. (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, and Hydrologic/Hydraulic modeling).
Detail-oriented while still able to understand/comply with the big picture/goals of a project.
Ability to multi-task.
Strong logic and writing skills.
Documents time and effort accurately.
Ability to work productively in a team environment.
Good communication skills.
Flexible – can adapt to shifting priorities/work schedules.
Able to work independently.
Self-learner.
Can take direction from others and in turn can guide others.

The selected candidate must be available to work in Rocky Hill, CT on a scheduled basis.
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $65,182.45 - $75,000.00.
