Crisis Shift Supervisor

We are searching for a driven individual to join our team as a full-time variable crisis shift supervisor. Under the direction of the crisis clinical supervisor, the crisis shift supervisor provides supervision and guidance to a team of dedicated and passionate crisis intervention specialist during assigned shifts. Your primary duties will include providing shift supervision and crisis intervention counseling on the agency's crisis lines during hours that are not otherwise covered by the crisis clinical supervisor.
What Do I Need?
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in sociology, social work, psychology, criminal justice, theology, counseling, education or a related field
OR
PA Registered Nurse
AND
5 Years of mental health direct care experience, 2 of which shall include supervisory experience
Other Requirements
- You will maintain required state and federal criminal and child abuse clearances, credentials and/or licenses.
- You must be willing to carry an on-call crisis phone and ensure reliable cell service is maintained throughout assigned shifts.
- You will maintain a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Shift Supervision:
- You will oversee the work of Crisis Intervention Specialists (CIS) during assigned shifts, offering guidance, support, and oversight to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- You will monitor crisis calls and provide real-time feedback and consultation to staff when needed.
- You will ensure shift coverage and adjust staffing as necessary to accomodate volume and service demands.
- You will serve as the primary decision maker during shifts, escalating cases to the Crisis Clinical Supervisor when necessary.
Crisis Intervention and Counseling:
- You will answer crisis line calls and provide immediate crisis intervention, emotional support, and counseling to individuals in distress.
- You will conduct risk assessments and develop appropriate action plans for callers experiencing suicidal ideation, domestic violence, mental health emergencies, or other crises.
- You will provide referrals to community resources, support services, and follow-up care, ensuring that callers receive appropriate and timely assistance.
Administrative & Documentation Duties:
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all crisis calls and interventions in compliance with agency policies and regulatory requirements.
- You will prepare shift reports summarizing key activities, staffing concerns, and notable incidents for review by the Crisis Clinical Supervisor.
- You will participate in shift debriefings to address challenges, review critical incidents, and share best practices.
- You will be responsible for reviewing and approving staff documentation within 24 hours of service delivery during assigned shifts or as otherwise reqeusted.
Staff Development & Training:
- You will mentor and support the professional development of Crisis Intervention Specialists, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- You will assist with onboarding and training of new staff, ensuring they understood program policies, crisis intervention techniques, and ethical guidelines.
- You will facilitate periodic reviews of program protocols and practices to ensure that staff remain up-to-date on current trends in crisis intervention and community resources.
Hours of Work
Hours are flexible
Includes nights, evenings, weekends.
