Bridge Inspection - Assistant Engineer / Engineer-in-Training

WPS Engineering, LLC seeks a motivated and detail-oriented civil engineering graduate (or soon-to-be graduate) with a strong work ethic to apply engineering knowledge to a career in bridge inspection. Position will work directly with a registered professional engineer with the goals of Professional Engineer licensing and development as a qualified bridge inspection team leader. The work includes preparation of bridge inspection reports and load ratings, project management, as well as field inspections on bridges of all types throughout Texas. An interest in becoming an FAA-certified drone pilot is helpful but not required.

Possible part-time internship prior to full-time employment upon graduation.

Typical duties:

-assist in routine bridge safety inspections in Texas

-assist in report preparation and load rating

-assist in project management and subcontractor coordination

-assist with quality control activities

Job requirements:

-bachelor of science in civil engineering (by May 2025) (minimum)

-willingness to learn about bridge inspection, design, and maintenance

-good verbal and written communication skills

-good physical condition, and willingness to work in extreme temperatures, within confined spaces, and within proximity of live traffic

-willingness to travel overnight (approximately 4-7 days per month)

-sound, ethical character

-proficiency with Microsoft Office

-experience with CAD, reading bridge plans, bridge load rating, or National Bridge Inspection Standards is a plus

-ability to work independently

-possible hybrid-remote employment (work to occur in office environment as well as remotely with some travel)
