Under direction of the State Park Interpreter III this position will collect fees, greet visitors, assists in cleaning historic buildings, assist the interpretive staff with interpretation and education programs and activities, special events, outreach, housekeeping of reconstructed historic buildings, fee collection and visitor services operations. This position is required to wear a State Park uniform. The reporting location for this position is La Purisima Mission State Historic Park, 2295 Purisima Road, Lompoc CA 93436.
The incumbent will operate the entrance kiosk, collect fees, help with park operations and cleaning historic buildings, assisting in interpretive / educational programs and working in the visitor center.
Work hours will vary, and applicants must be able to work days, weekends, holidays and special events. The incumbent may work in other park units within Channel Coast District as directed. A Department and District approved uniform is required to be worn during work hours.
Demonstrated interest in outdoor life and natural history and human history; neat personal appearance; good communication skills in speaking and writing, work cooperatively with staff and volunteers.
This position requires a valid Class C driver’s license. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

- One thousand hours of experience in park operations in a class equivalent in level of responsibility to the class of Park Aide (Seasonal).
Or
- One year or 1,920 hours of experience in any one of the following: conducting educational programs, recreational programs, or conducting public service programs.
AND
- When driving is a requirement of the job: Possession of a valid driver license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk or reckless driving.)
AND
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.)
