Senior Park Aide (Seasonal)

The Senior Park Aide reporting location will be Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, located at 127011 Newton B. Drury Pkwy, Orick CA., 95555. This position may include duties within and adjacent to Redwood National and State Parks, including Redwood National Park and other parks around the North Coast Redwood District.


The Senior Park Aide (SPA) will be supervised by the District Interpretive Program Manager and will work under the lead of the Prairie Creek Interpreter I. SPAs helps safeguard California State Parks by communicating to the public the complex stories of the redwood forest and the environments which have shaped human life and culture on the North Coast. The SPA will work closely with Redwood National Park interpretive staff to provide educational opportunities and experiences for our visitors, partners, local schools, and volunteers


A uniform is required, as outlined in the California State Parks uniform handbook.


This position requires a valid Class C driver’s license. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

This position is designated as not telework eligible.

Qualifications:

  • One thousand hours of experience in park operations in a class equivalent in level of responsibility to the class of Park Aide (Seasonal).

Or 

  • One year or 1,920 hours of experience in any one of the following: conducting educational programs, recreational programs, or conducting public service programs.

AND

  • When driving is a requirement of the job: Possession of a valid driver license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk or reckless driving.)

AND

  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.)
