Internship Summary

Unarco Industries’ IT department is searching for an engaged and enthusiastic Intern to join our Summer 2024 paid internship program.  At Unarco Industries, Interns are encouraged to think and act like entrepreneurs and are provided significant responsibility and autonomy to get things done. During this internship, you will gain substantial personal learning and career development opportunities through ownership of real-world job assignments, strong coaching and mentorship and networking with senior leaders across the organization. Over the course of this program, Interns will gain tangible, hands-on experience and insight into our IT operations and project-based work.

 

The successful candidate will have a passion for deconstructing business challenges and using technology to solve for them.  In this role you will be responsible for assigned projects designed to offer exposure and experience in a wide array of functional areas including project management, process improvement, solution design, and technology enablement. This is a 40 hour/week role.

 

This is a unique role that will be adapted to fit the candidates technical, project management, and process improvement skillsets.  More technical candidates will be able to focus on technical implementation (technical solution design, configuration, and even some light programming) while candidates with stronger project management and process improvement skillsets will focus on identifying business challenges and brainstorming how to solve for them.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with stakeholders to identify and document business challenges, processes, and functional requirements
  • Work with stakeholders and IT staff to brainstorm, plan, and implement technology solutions that solve real-world business problems
  • Work with users on improving business and IT operations by implementing effective processes and business workflows by establishing best practices and technical workflow solutions
  • Operate in the role of a project coordinator, creating, updating, and distributing project related documents (milestone and/or project plan, project operational workbook, issues/decision list, etc.)
  • Analyze and deconstruct processes to determine value, identify opportunities, and predict effects of potential interventions/process changes
  • Help drive adoption of technology through training and one-on-one consultation
  • Facilitate meetings to explain analysis and opportunities for improvement

 

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an Undergraduate Degree Program with a focus on Information Technology, Informatics, or Business. Junior status preferred.
  • 3.0+ GPA
  • Proficient in using software applications, especially Microsoft Office
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Collaborates well in both one-on-one and teamwork settings
  • Following receipt of a conditional offer of employment, candidates will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and a criminal background check as permitted or required by applicable law

 

Certain peak periods may provide opportunity for overtime. This is a paid position. Internship will run for 10 weeks from June to August. Exact dates flexible.
