Internship Summary
The Automation Engineering Intern will work with the Automation and Manufacturing Engineering teams on a variety of specific engineering projects in their Paragould, AR manufacturing center. This position will report directly to the Automation Engineering Manager but will have exposure to the wider business teams. Interns will complete a capstone type project over the summer culminating in a presentation to business leadership.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Cros-Functional collaboration with other team members on various automation, engineering, and manufacturing projects
- Analyze, develop, and enhance automated manufacturing cells in areas such as robotics, automated vision systems, cycle time and throughput optimization, data acquisition and reporting systems, measurement and metrology devices, PLC’s, lasers, metal forming, servo motors and other motion control systems.
- Compare technologies based on cost, functionality, lead time, support level, reliability, and other factors.
- Support equipment buy-off and activities to bring new equipment online.
- Work with the IIoT team to implement connectivity and data collection.
- Participate in team meetings.
- Develop project requirements based on business data and shop floor observations.
- Use your engineering skills to specify / design / build / implement solutions, as required, in conjunction with senior engineering staff
Qualifications:
- Actively pursuing an undergraduate (or Graduate) degree in Engineering, Science, or related field
- Rising junior or senior academic status
- Strong interest in applying engineering knowledge to practical manufacturing problems.
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCad or another solid modeling package
- Ability to travel domestically up to 25%.
- Ability to comply with deadlines.

Certain peak periods may provide opportunity for overtime. This is a paid position. Internship will run for 10 weeks from June to August. Exact dates flexible.
