Mechanical Engineering Intern

Internship Summary

LA Darling is looking for an engaged and enthusiastic Intern to join our Summer 2023 paid internship program.  Interns are encouraged to think and act like entrepreneurs and are provided significant responsibility and autonomy to get things done. As an intern, you will gain substantial personal learning and career development opportunities through ownership of real-world job assignments, strong coaching and mentorship and networking with senior leaders across the organization. Over the course of this program, Interns will gain tangible, hands-on experience, and insight into the customer concept to production processes and methodologies.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create sales drawings and presentations to communicate features to customers.
  • Create detailed manufacturing drawings for production.
  • Evaluate current and legacy products for improvements in cost and performance.
  • Develop and execute testing plans to verify and validate product performance.
  • Preparing detailed engineering drawings and 3D models utilizing SolidWorks 
  • Collaborate with design engineering to incorporate concepts into production models and drawings. 
  • Implement tolerancing and GD&T to capture design intent.
  • Process ECO's (engineering change orders) 
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure drawings and models are clear and interpretable.

 

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an Undergraduate Degree Program with a focus on Industrial or Mechanical Engineering. Junior status preferred.
  • 3.0+ GPA
  • Proficient in using software applications, especially Microsoft Office
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Collaborates well in both one-on-one and teamwork settings
  • Following receipt of a conditional offer of employment, candidates will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and a criminal background check as permitted or required by applicable law.

 

Certain peak periods may provide opportunity for overtime. This is a paid position. Internship will run for 10 weeks from June to August. Exact dates flexible.
