About TIMEP’s Internship Program

TIMEP’s Internship Program is dedicated to training the next generation of policy influencers and policy makers by providing students and young professionals with:

  • A hands-on learning experience in which they are paired with a staff mentor
  • The opportunity to refine a set of skills and knowledge to further their professional goals
  • Exposure to TIMEP’s programming and operations.

At the beginning of each internship, each TIMEP intern will work with a staff mentor to jointly identify a set of goals for the internship involving skills, knowledge, and/or experience. By the end of the program, each TIMEP intern will have had the opportunity to:

  • Refine their skills, knowledge, and experiences in furtherance of said-goals;
  • Engage with like-minded organizations and practitioners; and
  • Better understand the role of civil society and nonprofit organizations like TIMEP in the MENA policy space.

Spring 2025 - Advocacy Internship

For the Spring 2025 internship program, TIMEP seeks a full-time OR part-time Advocacy Intern who is available to work at least 20 hours a week for 8 to 12 weeks. Spring internships typically begin in January, however, we are happy to arrange a start date that works best for the incoming intern.

The Advocacy Intern will:

  • Conduct background research and draft memos and briefs related to TIMEP’s institution-wide advocacy priorities, which primarily focus on our five priority countries; Sudan, Tunisia, Egypt, Syria, and Lebanon.
  • Draft meeting minutes during advocacy meetings, external events, and Congressional hearings
  • Track ongoing policy developments, including statements and actions taken by members of government within the United States, European Union, and Canada
  • Assist in planning proactive advocacy campaigns on relevant topics, including but not limited to conducting stakeholder mapping, drafting correspondence, and suggesting effective courses of action.
  • Conduct research on members of Congress/parliament in the United States, Canada, and the European Union, including voting history and positions, while also locating relevant contact information.

Monthly internship stipends will be offered, so long as it does not interfere with the student’s respective university requirements for internships. Full-time interns (35-40 hrs/wk) will receive a stipend of $1,000 and part-time interns (20-25 hrs/wk) will receive a stipend of $500 per month, which will be prorated for partial months.
