Camp Nurse - YMCA Camp Pepin

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Camp Nurse at Camp Pepin offers an incredible opportunity for nursing students to gain hands-on experience in a supportive, dynamic environment. As the camp’s on-site nurse, you’ll handle a variety of daily health needs, from treating bumps, bites, and bruises to managing more significant medical situations if they arise. While no major medical procedures are required, you will use your skills to assess conditions, provide care, and consult with camp leadership on the best course of action—whether it’s calling an ambulance or recommending rest and hydration.

A key responsibility of the Camp Nurse is the safe distribution and documentation of medications to campers and underage staff. Medications are securely stored in the Health Office, and you’ll administer them during set times throughout the day (morning, lunch, dinner, and bedtime), with all activity documented using our online system integrated with camp management software.

This role is perfect for nursing students looking to build their practical skills in a real-world setting. Camp Pepin will cover the cost of your Wilderness First Responder certification, which qualifies you for the position, and you can choose to work for 4, 5 or 9 weeks depending on your schedule. Living on-site ensures you’re available for any emergencies that may arise (camp runs from Sunday afternoon to Friday afternoon). You’ll have your own private, air-conditioned apartment, all meals provided, and access to a beautiful camp setting with stunning views of Lake Pepin. Plus, you'll be surrounded by an amazing team of staff from around the world, providing a truly rewarding and memorable summer experience.

If you’re looking to grow your skills in nursing, gain practical experience, and be part of a fun and supportive camp community, this is the perfect role for you!
