Digital Media Manager (Internship)

Role Overview:

The Digital Media Manager at Electric Potential oversees the Digital Media team, which consists of digital media designers, digital media content creators (audio and video), and copywriters. Reporting to the Director of External Affairs, the Digital Media Manager is responsible for managing Electric Potential’s social media platforms, content calendar, and newsletter. This role ensures that our digital content is engaging, consistent with our brand voice, and effectively reaches our target audience. This role requires strong social media management skills, creativity, and a passion for driving impactful digital media initiatives.

Duration: 6 months, with the option to commit longer based on performance. This role has a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of our social media accounts, including scheduling, calendar management, and community engagement.
  • Ensure content calendars are consistently updated and posts are published according to scheduled dates, maintaining a consistent brand voice and aesthetic across platforms.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team, including the growth strategist, to develop and implement effective digital media strategies that align with our organization’s objectives, target audience, and brand voice.
  • Proactively engage with relevant organizations, partners, and Gen Z changemakers to foster new connections and strengthen ties within youth media and social change community.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and platform updates to optimize our social media presence and drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok platforms, including their respective features, algorithms, and best practices.
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of the organization's newsletter on collaboration with the Editor-in-Chief.
  • Provide guidance and support to digital media designers, content creators, and copywriters to ensure high-quality and impactful content and report to the Director of External Affairs.

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Digital Media, Marketing, Communications, or a related field, and/or proven experience as a digital media manager, social media manager or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, content creation, and digital marketing strategies.
  • Experience with Instagram, TikTok and Linkedin required.
  • Experience with social media management, content creation, and public relations preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Experience with Notion preferred.
  • Experience with Google Suite preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an asynchronous remote environment.
  • Ability to attend monthly 1:1 meetings with the Director of External Affairs.
  • Ability to attend weekly department or team meetings.
  • Ability to attend weekly leadership meetings.
  • Ability to attend bi-weekly all hands meetings.

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship/volunteer role.
