Job Summary
As a Sheriff's Licensing Clerk I, you will be conducting face-to-face interviews with a variety of applicants and law enforcement personnel to determine eligibility for regulatory business licenses and permits. Incumbents will perform background checks on applicants for required criminal registrations that involves making physical contact with applicants in order to photograph, fingerprint, and perform DNA mouth swabs. Incumbents will also have extensive contact with the general public, be responsible for interpreting and applying federal, state and county codes, and be privy to highly sensitive information.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- One (1) year of full-time, progressively responsible clerical experience, OR;
- Six (6) months of clerical experience and the completion of twelve (12) semester/ sixteen (16) quarter units of Criminal Justice classes.

CA driver's license is required throughout employment.

BACKGROUND QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have reputation for being honest and trustworthy. Felony convictions will be disqualifying. Misdemeanor convictions may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and recency. Prior to appointment, candidates will be subject to a thorough background investigation which may include psychological, truth verification, or other examination or test.
