Description of Position:

Instruct introductory and advanced courses in small, unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS), flight training, flight operations, and FAA Part 107 test preparation.The instructor is expected to develop course materials for full-length semester courses following the official course outline. Duties and Responsibilities:

Adjunct Faculty duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules;
2. creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking;
3. evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and grades student work;
4. meeting with students outside of class;
5. maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics;
6. maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas;
7. fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member;
8. maintaining accurate academic records;
9. performing other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification-Education/Experience:

Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff and faculty.

Master's in geography OR Bachelor's in geography AND Master's in geology, history, meteorology or oceanography OR the equivalentORMaster's in one of the disciplines included in the interdisciplinary area and upper division or graduate course work in at least one other constituent discipline.OR
Bachelor's degree or higher in aeronautics/aviation and two years of professional experience in aeronautics/aviation.
OR
Any associate degree and six years of professional experience in aeronautics/aviation.

Desirable Qualifications:

• At least one year experience as Pilot In Command (PIC) under Part 107.
• One or more years of experience in sUAS training and flight operations.
• Knowledge of flight controls, aviation weather, aviation safety, ethical airmanship, FAA Registration, and community-based safety guidelines.
• Experience of curriculum design in an adult learning environment.
• Experience with Canvas (Learning Management System).
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
