Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC) GS-2210-12

Duties:

  • You will perform risk and compliance assessments.
  • You will ensure compliance with Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts.
  • You will provide investigative and forensic support to Federal Law Enforcement agencies.
  • You will provide technical direction to staff of military, civilian and contractor.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Top Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position has been designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position in the specialty area of Cybersecurity Code 722. Incumbents of the position are required to comply with the Program requirements of SECNAV M-5239.2.
  • You must earn and maintain appropriate credentials from the Cyber IT/CSWF Qualification Matrix associated with the specialty area and level commensurate with the scope of major assigned duties to which you are assigned.
  • You must participate in a continuous learning program as described in SECNAVINST 1543.2. A minimum of 40 hours of Cyber IT/CSWF related continuous learning annually.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications:

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Information Technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:

1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. - IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Skill in applying advanced Information Technology and Information Assurance principles

2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. - IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Plan and coordinate assignments within the installation and influence outside customers to use particular technical methods and procedures.

3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Interact at the peer-level during discussions and conferences and instructing similar ranks and grades in the subject matter area.

4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Evaluates operational problems and improves Information Assurance and Security.

In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector preparing and presenting briefings to senior officials on complex Information Security issues; developing, managing and maintaining an Information Assurance Program; and implementing and overseeing a Network Security Program.
