Data Scientist Intern

As a Data Scientist Intern, you will join a team of data scientists and AI researchers who provide technical and scientific leadership for some of our most important adaptive learning products. You will help this team deliver cutting-edge data science and/or Artificial Intelligence (DS/AI) solutions, and you will collaborate with colleagues across functions like Product Content, Engineering, and User Experience to help McGraw Hill create and deliver world-class educational experiences.
This is a remote position open to applicants within the United States.
Candidates must be able to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
What you’ll do:
- Execute and report on DS/AI projects. Perform research, analysis, and modeling, and present findings to key stakeholders on a project by the end of the internship.
- Learn how to address problems in edtech by adopting or modifying common DS/AI practices.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support the creation of compelling learning experiences.

We’re looking for someone with:
- Enrolled in a Ph.D. or Master’s degree program in AI, Data Science, Psychometrics, or related field.
- Knowledge in Python, R, and/or SQL.
- Motivated and enthusiastic about solving problems in education.
- Excellent communication skills and excited to learn in a highly collaborative environment.
- It is helpful to meet one or more of the following qualifications, but it is not a requirement.
- Exposure to large language models (LLM) principles
- Exposure to Bayesian modeling or computational psychometrics
- Exposure to recommendation systems

The pay range for this position is between $25-$30/hour, however, pay offered may vary depending on degree pursuing, knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
