Software Engineering Summer Internship

Coding it Forward is hiring current and recent students to participate in the Coding it Forward Fellowship, a paid, 10-week summer fellowship for early-career technologists to innovate in local, state, and federal government offices across the United States. 

Fellows work across cybersecurity, data, design, product, or software to build a more equitable and effective government for all. 

Fellows have the opportunity to:

• Get paid while making an impact. You’ll contribute your expertise to some of the most pressing problems facing our country while getting your start in public interest technology. 
• Develop as a mission-driven technologist. You’ll work alongside public servants to apply your technical and problem-solving skills to improve the critical products and services Americans depend on. 
• Grow personally and professionally. You’ll attend weekly events led by top technologists, gain access to a one-on-one mentor, and office hours with the Coding it Forward team. 
• Join a cohort-based community. You’ll build lasting connections with other passionate early-career technologists in your cohort through social activities, group check-ins, and special events.
• Expand your network. After the summer ends, you’ll join our dynamic network of more than 700 alumni and receive access to job opportunities, professional development resources, and more.

Program Logistics

• Dates: June 9 through August 15, 2025
• Time Commitment: Full-time, 40 Hours/Week
• Location: Remote. You must be living in the United States for the duration of the program.
