ViiV Virology is a multidisciplinary in-house organization which spans the end-to-end discovery framework: target identification / validation / optimization, pre-clinical testing, and justification for candidate selection / conduct of clinical trials in humans.
Job Description:
We are seeking a co-op student in the Branford, CT site to help conduct mechanistic study of a next-generation anti-HIV bio-therapeutic, mainly through virology and molecular biology technologies, along with biochemical and biophysical characterizations. The selected candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter and will have the opportunity to work alongside virologists, antibody engineers, protein scientists, and chemists in a dynamic and multidisciplinary team environment.
The position will allow the selected candidate to:
- Apply knowledge in virology, molecule biology, protein biochemistry and biophysics to support drug discovery at ViiV.
- Engage and network with scientific leaders in drug discovery across ViiV R&D.
- Present and report their work within ViiV R&D.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Completed Bachlor's, or pursuing a Master's or PhD in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related scientific field.
- Must be able to work in a BSL2+ environment.
- Must be able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the 12-month assignment (March 2025 ~ March 2026).
- Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Track record of collaborating in a team-based environment
- Attention to detail, excellent documentation, organization, data analysis and communication skills
- Enthusiasm and excitement for drug discovery related technologies
- Direct experience with molecular biology or virology would be a plus, though not essential

Candidates who are hired for an on-site role or hybrid role, and reside outside of 50-miles from their assigned work location, are eligible for relocation stipend.
