Global Social Impact Event Coordination Intern


Job Description

Xylem has set an ambitious Sustainability & Social impact goal to engage 95% of employees and 100,000 external stakeholders in Xylem Watermark volunteer efforts by 2025.   We have made great progress towards this goal with close to 90% of employee participating in Watermark in 2023.  As we near 2025, we need to close the gap on our external stakeholder engagement target and are planning a global event around World Water Day. From January to March, Xylem Watermark will host public Webinars and Workshops showcasing what water action looks like to help our employees, customers, suppliers and more plan a World Water Day volunteer event.  This content will feature presentations by Xylem employee and stakeholder volunteers, NGO partners, and youth. Then, on World Water Day participants will join the ‘Wave of Action’!  Through a combination of in-person events, and remote activation, 50,000+ people will take part in a water-related volunteer activity.  They will have access to an online portal with resources on the various activities, and will be able to log their action there. Submissions to the portal will result in a donation to the non-profit partners of Xylem.


Support the execution of this global social impact campaign through Xylem’s corporate social responsibility program, Xylem Watermark. We are seeking an intern to be involved in the development of campaign messaging and materials, coordination of events around the globe, and collection of impact stories.   They will play a critical role in the success of this important global initiative, and will engage directly with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

 

Xylem is seeking Intern candidates to join our team for a 16-20 week period. The internship will begin in November 2024 and will extend until April 2025. An ideal candidate will be able to work 20 hours a week and be in the eastern time zone. We offer flexibility based of class schedules.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Involved in project management of the campaign including monitoring a timeline and assigning tasks to multiple parties
  • Development of campaign messaging and materials
  • Coordination of virtual and in person events.
  • Play a critical role in the success of this impactful global initiative, and will engage directly with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders including utilities, channel partners, suppliers and NGOs.

 

Qualifications:

  • This is role is open to college graduates or students with expected graduation by Spring 2025 or earlier (ideally in their junior or senior year)
  • Degree focus or previous experience in communications, marketing, sustainability, environmental sciences, engineering or similar area
  • Strong communication skills and ability to develop creative and engaging communications materials (Slides for webinars, social media advertisements, internal and external emails, etc).
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, time management
  • Ability to collaborate and work well with a global network of colleagues
  • Previous work leading a volunteer campaign highly preferred

Our internships are intended to create a pipeline of talented undergraduate students who are interested in a career in the water innovation technology industry. The hourly rate for an intern is dependent on a variety of factors including major, year in school and geographic location. The average hourly rate for this internship will be $24 and it is a full remote project, with opportunity to visit a Xylem site in person if feasible.
