Title: IT Communications Intern
Overview/Job Purpose:
The BorgWarner Information Technology Performance & Strategy (ITPS) team seeks a part-time IT Communications Intern for an internship starting January, 2025. The Communications Intern will mainly support the ITPS team's internal communication efforts, including technical writing/editing, digital channel management/analytics, and other content creation responsibilities. This role is suitable for students in academic programs including communication arts, technical writing and editing, marketing, graphic design, social media or other related disciplines, who are looking to grow their understanding of the role of communications strategy, management, and execution in a global, technical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
In the role of IT Communications Intern, you will support our ITPS communications initiatives by developing, delivering, and managing all types of content. The role offers significant opportunity to learn how to collaborate with cross-functional, global teams and to grow in understanding data and analytics to improve our communications efforts.
Work under the guidance of BorgWarner's IT Communications Manager (Auburn Hills, Mich.-based)
Develop and execute communications plans and initiatives, including internal social media content, blog posts, email communications, infographics, videos, and other internal communications
Use data and analytics to measure and optimize communications efforts, including engagement, click-through rates, and other key metrics
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent and effective messaging across all communications channels
Create and manage communications collateral, including internal IT sites, presentations, and other materials
Assist in managing our internal IT social media presence, including creating and curating content and monitoring engagement
Qualifications/What we’re looking for:
You should be currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate or graduate program, possess strong writing and editing skills, have a cursory understanding of communications principles and best practices, and be able to work independently and as a part of a team. Most importantly, you should be a firm believer in the importance of clear and concise communications and how these contribute to a successful organization.
Currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate or graduate program (e.g., communications, technical writing/editing, marketing, business, or related fields)
Identifiable writing and editing skills, with interest in developing or managing content for various communications channels (e.g., social media, blogs, emails)
Knowledge of communications and marketing principles and best practices, and an interest in audience analysis, user segmentation and other data-driven marketing techniques
Experience with social media platforms and social media management tools
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
