Personnel Supervisor II
The Human Resources Division (HRD) partners with CDPH’s programs and management to provide guidance and consultative services on Human Resources matters that are necessary for the Department to carry out its mission to deliver quality public health services. The mission of HRD is to support CDPH in attracting, hiring, and retaining quality employees.
This position supports CDPH’s mission and strategic plan by leading a team of Senior Personnel Specialists and Personnel Specialists and is responsible for overseeing the activities within Payroll and Benefit Services Unit A. The includes, but is not limited to, supervising, and evaluating subordinate staff who provide the full range of personnel, payroll, disability, payroll, and benefit services to their assigned CDPH Program/Unit employees; observing assignments; communicating and coordinating training; assisting with the development of work plans and monitoring deadlines; and directing the workload of the Senior Personnel Specialists. The Personnel Supervisor II (PS II) will also speak publicly at quarterly Attendance Coordinator (AC) and Personnel Liaison (PL) Meetings. Apply and interpret laws and rules from available reference manuals and other related revisions issued by the State Personnel Board (SPB), California Department of Human Resources (CalHR), State Controller’s Office (SCO), California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). Prepares management reports, spreadsheets, and charts, drafts correspondence; functions as a team member on personnel related project; and acts in a lead role. The PS II also functions as a team member on personnel-related projects.
