Internships Opportunities- U.S. General Services Administration (GSA)

Who We Are 

U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) is often described as the government’s Landlord & Business Manager. Our core mission is to help federal agencies buy smarter, reduce their real estate footprint, provide efficient, cost saving technology and create a better, faster federal government. 

Program Overview 

Our Internship programs are for college students who are currently in their junior year and are entering into their senior year of undergraduate studies with a graduation date no later than June 30, 2026. The program is focused on providing professional training, technical training and development opportunities by exposing students with real world work experience inside the federal government. 

Our Internship program will begin on approximately June 2nd, 2025 and last until August 8th, 2025. Interns with good performance are able to extend their summer internship into a part-time role during the Fall and Spring semesters and have an opportunity to transition into our Pathways Recent Graduate Program (an entry-level development program) upon graduating by May/June 2026.

FAS Internship Track:

Federal Acquisition Service (FAS) is a component of GSA that focuses on procuring goods & services for the federal government. 

As a Pathways Intern, you may perform the following duties:

  • Maintain automated databases and/or documents
  • Budget and contracting duties
  • Assist contract specialists with day-to-day tasks
  • Consult with internal and external customers
  • Provide sound business advice and project status and procurement issues to team
  • Maintain deadlines
  • Attend staff meetings, conferences and seminars

PBS Internship Track:

Public Building Service (PBS) is the landlord and real estate agent for the entire federal government. 

As an intern, you will be expected to help with a range of tasks and will be afforded the opportunity to learn the scope and foundation of GSA/PBS acquisition responsibilities, assisting contract specialists and management with day-to-day operations. Examples of such tasks are:

  • Updates, revises, sorts, calculates, and manipulates data in spreadsheets to meet multiple report formats. Also, converts spreadsheets data into graphs, charts, PowerPoint presentations, etc.
  • Prepares Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents, performs data gathering, researches and performs basic analysis for designated topics incorporating contracting program information.
  • Consults with internal and external customers to keep them apprised of project status and issues, including business advice on routine contracting matters.
  • Maintenance of automated databases and/or documents.

As a Pathways Intern, you will participate in meaningful work experiences, training, networking, and developmental opportunities designed to build your skills in doing this work.

Who We Are Looking For: 

Talented, motivated students who are looking to build their career at GSA, and who: 

  • Are U.S. Citizens (As a federal agency, all of our employees must be U.S. Citizens) 
  • Are currently juniors or seniors who will be completing a bachelor’s degree or higher between May - June 2026
  • Are able to work full-time from June through August 2025
  • Will commit to working part-time during the school year, for a minimum of 168 hours, before graduating no later than June 30th, 2026
