JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Abington's Student Affairs Division is seeking an Employer Engagement Coordinator to assist individuals in the development of career-life plans that include the exploration of career identity and career possibilities. This position supports students, faculty, staff, and community members in the formulation of career development goals and the development of skills and strategies for achieving career/vocational goals. The Coordinator also provides career coaching and counseling to undergraduate and graduate students, alumni, and University employees and partners and forms relationships with employers to match students with career opportunities.

  • Provide individual career coaching and/or counseling; may provide career counseling in a group format
  • Collaborate in the development and delivery of career/life education and outreach and service programs
  • Perform special projects that are closely aligned with training/coursework in academic departments
  • Lead/coordinate special projects or initiatives that provide benefit across all campuses
  • Provide liaison and consultative services to faculty, staff and student organizations
  • Represent Career Services at campus/community functions
  • Advise students on available University resources and procedures
  • Counsel and prepare students for internships including job searching guidance, application support, and resume reviews; develop and implement communication strategies to promote opportunities to students
  • Coordinate and manage internship reporting and compliance processes for a unit or college
  • Identify, qualify, and evaluate career experiences including internships, part-time job, and full-time job opportunities to ensure a high quality student experience and alignment with program goals
  • May engage in employer outreach and development initiatives to promote employment opportunities for students and alumni; foster relationships with companies, alumni, and industry partners to secure new internship or job opportunities; develop employer relations strategies to engage employers and potential partners; develop employee recruiter networks
  • Represent the University/Student Affairs on external or University-wide committees
  • Administer and interpret a broad range of career assessment instruments
  • Maintain documentation that tracks client progress, assessments results, and goals, ensuring confidentiality
  • May teach career development courses in accordance with academic unit/campus policies
  • May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required. Master's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 3+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong relationship management and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and marketing skills required.
  • Experience in event planning or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with Symplicity or similar relationship management tool preferred.
  • Experience with social media and web page maintenance.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to successfully prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a network of internal and external relationships required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite required.

 

This position requires successful completion of the following :

  • Standard background check.
  • Pennsylvania MVR -This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

 

$51,000.00 - $74,000.00
