Business Data Analytics Program Coordinator and Faculty

BridgeValley Community & Technical College invites applicants for a full-time, 9-month, grant funded, renewable based on program viability, faculty position beginning in the Spring term 2025 to serve as program coordinator and faculty in our new Business Data Analytics Certificate in Applied Science credential.  Housed within the Business & Accounting Department of the General Education & Professional Programs Division, this individual will be responsible for the overall coordination of the Data Analytics CAS program, recruitment of students and academic advising for all students within the program. The teaching load is 24 credit hours of data analytics related classes throughout the academic year (usually 12 each term fall and spring) as approved by your supervisor.  The position includes on-going curriculum development, as well as the development of and continuation of programmatic and course-level assessment.
 
Expectations include providing support/service to students, participating in continual professional development, fundraising for the program, and providing service to the institution/community with the ultimate goals of improving enrollment, retention, and completion rates for students.  Hours are flexible with 25 hours of on campus time required. This position may require travel. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation is required. This position will be based in South Charleston, however, travel to all campuses may be required on occasion. The salary range for this position is $36,000-$40,000.  Actual offer will be commensurate with experience.

 

 Examples Of Essential Duties:

•         Curriculum and assessment improvement
•         Network, solicit and build relationships with appropriate community partners, businesses and industries within the community.
•         Prepare for and instruct classes in data analytics related subject matter for traditional classroom and distance education modes.
•         Assist in the development of appropriate scheduling of courses each semester using Ad Astra.
•         Establish clear grading criteria through appropriate instructional means for all courses.
•         Assist in the locating of adjunct faculty for courses as appropriate.
•         Oversee the advisement of data analytics student organizations.
•         Teach alternative scheduled courses if necessary (i.e., alternative work locations/campuses, evenings, weekends as needed)
•         Review and/or develop curriculum, identify, and adopt appropriate course materials and equipment.
•         Submit textbook orders for relevant courses.
•         Provide availability and accessibility to students for the purpose of academic advising, consulting, and support.
•         Communicate established academic and professional behavior expectations clearly.
•         Ensure program level compliance with all internal academic policies and procedures and all accrediting standards, state licensing requirements, and other applicable external rules and regulations.
•         Participate in division, department, and general faculty meetings, in-service training, workshops and/or seminars; serve on college committees, and/or other activities within the scope of the position to improve program enrollment, retention, completion, and fundraising.
•         Recruit participants for employer advisory committee and other activities designed to solicit input into curriculum and build relationships with employers and potential employers of BVCTC graduates; coordinate and conduct annual advisory committee meetings.
•         Recruit, screen, develop, lead, and mentor faculty and adjuncts as needed to maintain the overall quality and integrity of the data analytics program.
•         Promote and maintain a team based working environment.
•         Develop program articulation agreements in conjunction with the department and Dean of General Education & Professional Programs.
•         Perform other duties and activities within the scope of the position as assigned.

 

 Typical Qualifications:

•       Earned master’s degree in data analytics from a regionally accredited institution is preferred.  Minimum qualifications of an earned bachelor’s degree in data analytics or in a related field such as: data science, business, business intelligence, data and information visualization, data architecture, business, from a regionally accredited institution, may be considered with substantial working/teaching experience.
•       Three years of experience working and/or teaching within the field of data analytics or in a field appropriating data analytics and experience at a community college or related educational setting is strongly preferred.
•       Excellent skills in communication, problem-solving and mediation.
•       Strong administrative and organizational skills.

•       Experience in curriculum development and online delivery.
