Distance Learning Fellow

Rocky Mountain Conservancy's Distance Learning Education Fellowship is designed to provide an on-the-job learning experience in online environmental education and the opportunity to explore career options in both the National Park Service and the nonprofit sectors. Fellows will learn about the Conservancy and how we work with Rocky Mountain National Park and other partners to provide a range of educational experiences for both youth and adults. Fellows will also gain knowledge of the natural and cultural history of Rocky Mountain National Park and the surrounding region, and will leave the program with a portfolio of work that reflects their ability to plan and implement educational programs, develop outreach materials, and communicate with participants.

Distance Learning Fellows will work with Conservancy and park staff to create and support remote learning options for children and adults, with an emphasis on connecting people to the park when they're not able to visit in person. Fellows can expect to work approximately 30-40 hours each week, with a schedule that can vary seasonally. Projects may include producing educational videos or podcasts, developing online/downloadable learning materials, leading or facilitating online learning sessions, or creating social media campaigns. Successful applicants will work with their supervisor to define their specific projects, and we would love to hear your ideas, too! Because collaboration is a big part of the Fellowship, this is an in-person experience and housing is included.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and produce educational programs suitable for diverse audiences via distance learning platforms,
  • Coordinate and manage technical aspects of live-streamed presentations given by park staff and researchers,
  • Create digital educational materials (video, audio, visual, print, etc.) available for download on the Conservancy’s website,
  • Support Rocky Mountain National Park's distance learning initiatives.

Essential Skills:

  • Adept communication skills, both written and spoken, for diverse audiences and using various media,
  • Digital media creation and production experience (Adobe Suite preferred),
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple long-term projects and complete assignments on time,
  • Desire and ability to work both collaboratively and independently,
  • Computer experience with the Microsoft Office suite preferred.
