Spring Co-op/Immunological Toxicology & Biomarkers
Department Description:
Immunological Toxicology is part of the Non-clinical Safety (NCS) department with in GSK R&D Business Unit. NCS aims to characterize, understand, and explain the biological mechanisms of the Safety of new medicines and to translate this knowledge for project teams, patients, prescribers, and regulatory agencies.
Immunolgical Toxicology specifically develops and executes testing strategies to investigate immunotox consequences of on-target and/or off-target engagement of compounds. We provide timely, comprehensive, and well-integrated assessments of immunotoxicity potential and risk at all phases of drug development and regulatory submissions. We support customized immunotoxicology testing on in-house and outsourced in vivo toxicology studies and continuously develop and improve in vitro and in vivo methods to assess immunotoxicity.
We are located at the Upper Providence Site in Collegeville, PA.
Job Description:
We are seeking a 6 month co-op student who is interested in learning and utilizing “state of the art” equipment for evaluating drug-induced effects on the immune system. The co-op student will be involved with ongoing Immunologic Toxicology projects evaluating Immune stimulation and disregulation utilizing current immunologic methods such as flow cytometry and cell based assays on samples obtained from in vitro and in vivo studies.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelors degree (sophomore, junior, or senior) in Biological Sciences or similar disciplines.
- Basic lab skills including micropipetting, capable of following directions, can perform calculations, and keep an accurate laboratory notebook.
- Track record of achievement and leadership in work and/or extracurricular activities.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Evidence of leadership and teamwork skills.
- Desire for a career in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Must be able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the 6 month co-op (March 2025 ~ September 2025).
- Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of Immunology and/or Cell Biology.
- Student with at least one previous co-op experience.
- Experience with ELISAs, Flow Cytometry, and cell culture.

Candidates who are hired for an on-site role or hybrid role, and reside outside of 50-miles from their assigned work location, are eligible for relocation stipend.
