Department Description:

The Respiratory & Immunology Biology Unit (RIBU) performs the biological research required to progress targets from target validation through clinical candidate selection and life cycle management to create future pipeline value in Respiratory, Immunology, and Emerging Specialties.  We develop and employ relevant translational systems to investigate neurodegeneration, pain, liver diseases, kidney diseases, immuno-mediated diseases, and respiratory diseases with the goal of identifying the best targets and best drugs to treat diseases with human genetic associations.

Job Description:

This position will allow the selected candidate to gain experience in the development of human in vitro disease models in a scientifically innovative environment. The successful candidate will be performing culture of human induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (hiPSC) and developing protocols and characterization of hiPSC-derived cells.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a BS or MS in Biological Sciences or similar disciplines.
  • Laboratory experience in molecular biology and cell biology.
  • Experience in sterile cell culture and a basic understanding of cell culture techniques.
  • Knowledge in different assay methods such as Western blot, immunofluorescence and RT qPCR.
  • Ability to execute experiments independently and work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Able to do independent literature research, analyze, summarize, and interpret experimental data and maintain records according to company policy.
  • Able to cooperate with others both to accomplish scientific goals and to perform general maintenance duties.
  • Must be able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the 6 month co-op (March 2025 ~ September 2025).
  • Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of neuroscience.
  • Previous experience with iPSC or hESCs culture is a plus

Candidates who are hired for an on-site role or hybrid role, and reside outside of 50-miles from their assigned work location, are eligible for relocation stipend. This is a one-time payment to help offset housing & relocation expenses. Please refer to the position details for the requirements of each position.
