ABOUT OUR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Weissman's Summer Internship Program is an extraordinary opportunity for students pursuing careers in the fashion and apparel manufacturing industries. For over a decade, our program has been a launching pad for future leaders, providing 10 weeks of full-time, paid experience.
Interns gain hands-on exposure across departments such as Merchandising, Technical Design, Pattern Making, and Marketing, all while being guided by experienced mentors and industry professionals. JOB SUMMARY
The Technical Design Internship at Weissman offers a unique, hands-on opportunity for students looking to gain experience in the fashion and apparel industry. As a Technical Design Intern, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Design, Sourcing, and Pattern-making, while working under the guidance of an experienced mentor. This 10-week, full-time, paid internship allows you to see the full product development process in action, from initial design handover to final production.
Interns will gain valuable skills in sample tracking, Tech Pack creation, and prototype review, as well as participate in fit sessions and contribute to real-world projects. At the end of the program, you'll present your project to leadership, gaining exposure to industry professionals and the potential for future employment opportunities. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate on Technical Design Projects: Work with your assigned mentor to support and contribute to the technical design project, seeing multiple designs through from initial handover to final completion.
- Assist in Sample Preparation: Support the technical design team by tracking, organizing, and preparing samples for fit sessions, including measuring and maintaining sample integrity.
- Participate in Cross-Functional Meetings: Attend style handover meetings and fit sessions with Design, Sourcing, and Pattern teams to foster cross-functional partnerships and gain insights into product development.
- Support Technical Pack Creation: Assist with the creation and maintenance of Tech Packs, including technical specifications, construction callouts, and updates to product development systems.
- Prototype and Fit Sample Review: Contribute to the review of prototypes, fit samples, and pre-production samples, ensuring they meet quality and design standards.
- Assist with Sample Fittings: Help the technical design team during fittings by preparing garments, recording adjustments, and ensuring smooth session execution.
- Maintain Organizational Systems: Help organize and maintain the Technical Design sample library and systems to ensure efficient workflow and accessibility.
- Collaborate on Development Schedules: Work closely with the technical design team to adhere to development and production schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
- Contribute to Product Accuracy: Assist in updating images and technical specifications in product development systems, ensuring all product details are accurate and up to date.
- Present Final Internship Project: At the conclusion of the internship, present your final technical design project to the leadership team, showcasing your contributions and cross-functional collaboration.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be currently enrolled in a college or university or a recent graduate.
- Working towards a degree in Fashion/Apparel Design, Fashion Merchandising, Retail and Supply Chain Management or related field.
- Ability to relocate to St. Louis, Missouri for the summer.
- Knowledge of dance or activewear is a plus.
- Available to participate in our full-time internship program from June to August 2025. Work Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm.
- Eligible to work in the US without restrictions.
