ABOUT OUR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Weissman's Summer Internship Program is an extraordinary opportunity for students pursuing careers in the fashion and apparel manufacturing industries. For over a decade, our program has been a launching pad for future leaders, providing 10 weeks of full-time, paid experience. 


 

Interns gain hands-on exposure across departments such as Merchandising, Technical Design, Pattern Making, and Marketing, all while being guided by experienced mentors and industry professionals. With professional development seminars and direct involvement in real-world projects, this program offers unparalleled insights into the fashion industry’s dynamic landscape.

Pattern Making Intern

JOB SUMMARY

The Pattern Making Internship at Weissman offers a hands-on experience for students eager to dive into the world of digital patternmaking in the fashion and apparel industry. During this 10-week, full-time, paid internship, you will work closely with experienced mentors and cross-functional teams to learn the basics of Modaris, a leading digital patternmaking program. From creating initial patterns to implementing revisions, you’ll gain valuable skills in developing production-friendly garments while supporting the overall design process.


 

Interns will also attend style handover meetings and fit sessions, collaborating with Design and Technical Design teams to ensure patterns meet quality standards. At the end of the program, you will present a pattern-making project to leadership, showcasing your contributions and expertise. This internship is a great opportunity to gain real-world experience in patternmaking, and it provides the potential for future employment at Weissman. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Learn Digital Patternmaking: Gain proficiency in Modaris, the digital patternmaking program, learning how to create initial patterns and implement revisions as directed by the Technical Designer, while ensuring production-friendly designs.
  • Assist in Pattern Revisions: Collaborate with the Pattern Making team to revise and refine patterns for multiple styles, utilizing technical specifications, illustrations, and sketches to support accurate pattern creation.
  • Collaborate on Design Projects: Work closely with your assigned mentor and cross-functional teams to contribute to design projects, seeing garments through from concept to final pattern completion.
  • Attend Style Handover Meetings: Participate in handover meetings and fit sessions with Design and Technical Design teams to ensure seamless communication and execution of pattern adjustments.
  • Support Fit Process: Assist in preparing patterns for fit sessions, reviewing garment construction, and making necessary pattern adjustments to ensure fit and balance.
  • Manage Pattern Library: Help maintain and organize the digital and physical pattern library, ensuring that patterns are properly documented, stored, and accessible.
  • Contribute to Final Project: Develop and present a pattern-making project as part of your internship, collaborating with cross-functional teams and presenting the final outcome to leadership.
  • Research Pattern Trends and Techniques: Conduct research on current patternmaking techniques and industry trends to contribute innovative ideas to the design and pattern development process.
  • Adhere to Development Timelines: Follow production schedules and ensure that all patternmaking tasks, including initial patterns and revisions, are completed on time.
  • Engage in Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Design, Technical Design, and Production teams to ensure patterns align with overall design intent and production requirements.


 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be currently enrolled in a college or university or a recent graduate.
  • Working towards a degree in Fashion/Apparel Design, Fashion Merchandising, Retail and Supply Chain Management or related field.
  • Ability to relocate to St. Louis, Missouri for the summer.
  • Knowledge of dance or activewear is a plus.
  • Available to participate in our full-time internship program from June to August 2025.  Work Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm.
  • Eligible to work in the US without restrictions.
