Outreach Specialist, Sexual and Reproductive Health

About the position:

The S&RH Outreach Specialist will work closely with Outside In's Sexual and Reproductive Health Program Manager to support community-driven outreach and education efforts tailored to the sexual and reproductive health needs and interests of Outside In's diverse client and patient populations. Primary duties and responsibilities will include developing
culturally-competent outreach and education materials, planning and executing outreach events with internal and external community groups and partners, and supporting the administrative components of program participation and grant management.
 

The Outreach Specialist will work to increase utilization of Outside In's sexual and reproductive healthcare services through targeted projects such as the development of a community needs assessment and informed communications strategy. There will be
ample opportunity to cross-train and support other agency processes through the lens of sexual and reproductive health.
 

The Reproductive Health Outreach Specialist will be offered the support and opportunity to pursue training and/or work experience aligned with the skills and interests they possess or would like to grow, related to the role.
 

The Reproductive Health Outreach Specialist's work supports populations across Outside In's various sites, including our Downtown Clinic, East Clinic, School-Based Health Center, Mobile Medical Outreach Team, Youth Department, and Injection Drug Users Health Services (IDUHS) - all of which serve unique and overlapping communities. The fellow can expect the populations they work with to include young people, low-income communities, people experiencing housing instability and houselessness, LGBTQIA+ folks, immigrants, communities of color, people navigating disability and mental illness, and people
who use drugs.
 

A qualified candidate has experience with (and enthusiasm for) working with communities similar to those who are served by Outside In, an understanding of and commitment to reproductive justice framework, and an interest in and intermediate knowledge of sexual and reproductive health topics. A qualified candidate also has cursory experience with project/event coordination (in any capacity: personal, professional, academic,
extracurricular) and/or administrative skillsets. Experience with public speaking, developing curriculum, or leading trainings/workshops is preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must, as well as an interest in trauma-informed
practices. The ability to be self-directed and take initiative is also important for this role. The ideal candidate is creative, curious, and excited about the opportunity to do capacity-building work. Lived experience navigating sexual and reproductive health topics in any setting (healthcare, advocacy, peer mentoring, etc) is ideal. Spanish language abilities are preferred but not required. A valid drivers license and access to a vehicle is preferred
but not required. Familiarity with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Teams, Excel, etc) is useful, as well as design platforms like Canva, and Electronic Medical Records systems like Epic.
