Resettlement Assistant

Work with the Minnesota Council of Churches Refugee Services as a QVS Fellow!

About the Position:

The QVS Fellows will hold the position of Resettlement Assistant. The Resettlement Assistant will help the Case Management Team by working directly with individuals and families with refugee status during their initial months in the country, providing services that promote self-sufficiency. Primary responsibilities include assisting refugee clients with
applications for public assistance, social security cards, schools, and other community services, conducting home visits, connecting clients to employment programs, and participating in cultural and community orientations. Other tasks include documenting services in case notes and other duties as assigned. Fellows will have the opportunity to work with people of diverse ages, backgrounds, and sometimes with clients with disabilities. The clients we serve are from all over the world, including East Africa, Congo, Southeast Asia, Afghanistan, and Central America. Qualified fellows will have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, the ability to maintain detailed records, strong communication skills-both oral and written, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ideally, fellows will have previous experience relating to or working with
people across cultures and an enthusiasm for further cross-cultural dialogue. Proficiency in a relevant language is preferred.

About Quaker Voluntary Service:

Quaker Voluntary Service is a 9.5-month service program operating in Boston, Philadelphia, Minneapolis and Portland, OR.  During their service term, QVS Fellows receive many supports including:
