Join our growing team at Colorado Animal Specialty and Emergency (CASE)—a state-of-the-art, 37,000 sq. ft. specialty and emergency hospital in Boulder, Colorado. We're a 24/7 facility dedicated to providing exceptional care, and we're looking for a Blood Bank Registered Veterinary Technician to help lead and expand our blood bank services.
The blood bank is a new and exciting initiative at CASE, and we are seeking a talented individual to help develop and grow this essential service. You will play a key role in managing blood donations and engaging the public in donor education.
Compensation:
- $25.00 - $31.00 per hour, based on experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit, on-board, and manage blood donors.
- Schedule donations and arrange thank-you gifts for donor animals.
- Perform safe restraint for examinations and procedures.
- Maintain knowledge of donor eligibility (testing, breed, weight, age requirements).
- Achieve a minimum 95% success rate in jugular venipuncture.
- Manage blood bank databases and ensure proper documentation of units.
- Administer sedation medication and understand routes of administration.
- Communicate effectively with donors, pet owners, and referring veterinarians (rDVMs).
- Assist in admitting and discharging donor patients.
- Maintain blood bank equipment, supplies, and cleanliness.
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of veterinary practices, procedures, and terminology.
- The ability to safely handle and restrain animals (dogs and cats) and stand for extended periods.
- Proficiency in veterinary procedures such as drawing blood, administering CPR, and assessing patients.
- Team player, with excellent communication skills.
- Licensure required (CVT,LVT,RVT)
- Minimum 2 years of veterinary experience required.
