Meadow Brook Estate Education Coordinator

Position Purpose
The Education Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing a robust education program at Meadow Brook Estate (MBE) consistent with the mission while maximizing opportunities for earned revenue. This position will work to engage various audiences, including but not limited to: current and potential youth-aged visitors and their parents/teachers/leaders, current and potential adult visitors, leaders in the community and staff throughout the MBE to enhance current programs and create new and creative learning opportunities that support the estate’s interpretive messages and mission. This position will help MBE build lasting relationships with our target audience, with the goal of creating a place for imagination and engagement.

Job Duties
• Designs, fully implements and manages a diverse range of programs for different events and audiences, ensuring quality in content and delivery.
• Identifies existing, developing, and future youth audiences. Meadow Brook is committed to building lasting relationships with its target audiences and is currently focused on establishing and developing programs with and for Girl Scouts; schools; and families.
• Manages youth tours and youth and adult workshops, movie screenings, lectures, etc., including curriculum and lesson plan development.
• Develops general and focused printed, audio, and docent-led tours to encourage new and repeat visitation. 
• Network with school systems in contracting and delivering educational programming, and work with advisory committees and other organizations to facilitate community input into programs and exhibits.
• Hires, trains and educates part-time staff and volunteers to assist with programs. 
• Works with Curatorial staff to conceptualize, develop, implement, and evaluate programs and web-based resources and services. 
• Works with Marketing, Curatorial, Visitor Services, and Membership to promote the museum as an educational and cultural resource. 
• Manage the departmental budget; adhere to and manage budgets through monthly reporting of revenue and expenses; evaluate program success, actively strive to maximize earned revenue.
• Develops new outreach program possibilities assisting in locating funds through sponsorship, grants, or fee collection. 
• Identifies community organizations with which to build sustainable partnerships. 
• Supervise storage and maintenance of teaching materials; anticipate & assist in exhibit maintenance.
• Other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications
The Education Coordinator is an experienced, imaginative, and motivated museum education professional with a BA in Education, Museum Education and/or Fine Art Education, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Communicates clearly in verbal or written methods, has strong time management and organizational skills and is comfortable multi-tasking. 
• Able to work efficiently with minimum supervision, is self-motivated and can meet deadlines. Able to work effectively as a team member or leader.
• Must have demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate program details, to follow guidelines and to work well with supervisors, peers, and volunteers. 
• Must have good teaching and interpersonal skills with children and adults, projecting a professional image. 
• Computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Provides excellent customer experience and has effective problem-solving skills. 
• Must be able to work with students of all ages.
• Must have schedule flexibility to meet program needs, including weekends and evenings.

Desired Qualifications 
• Familiar with managing a budget.
• Experience with driving program sales/sales outreach.
• Experience working with, training and/or managing volunteers and assistants.
• Proficient and/or knowledgeable in two- and three-dimensional arts mediums.
• Experience designing programs and guides to be used for events.
• Knowledge of art history.
