Electrical Engineer 1 - EDGE Rotational Program
The Opportunity
As an Electrical Engineer at Black & Veatch, you will help address some of the world's most pressing infrastructure challenges. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects to meet our clients' needs and contribute to the growth and success of Black & Veatch.
You will be assigned to a functional area in: Substation, Transmission, Distribution, Power System Studies, Renewables, Conventional Generation, Gas Fuels and Chemicals, Nuclear, Mining, Water/Wastewater, Telecom/Electric Vehicle Charging, or Data Centers.
The EDGE Program is a personalized rotational program designed for early-career professionals to provide development opportunities. As part of the program, you will complete 3-4 job rotations spanning over 3-4 years, including one field rotation on a project site to help you gain a better understanding of the full-project lifecycle. Throughout the program, you will be assigned a high-level leader to guide you in your career and engage in strategic quarterly trainings to gain insights into the various projects at Black & Veatch.
Responsibilities
- Understand departmental design guides, engineering codes, standards, and company policies.
- Assist in producing less complex electrical engineering deliverables like reports, drawings, specifications, and limited-scope studies.
- Complete routine research and develop recommendations for equipment and material selection.
- Collect, manage, and assimilate engineering data for projects.
- Prepare fundamental power system analysis and electrical component sizing calculations based on established engineering principles.
- Adhere to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Understand internal client needs and external client interests.
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework and knowledge of Power Systems, Motors, Transformers, Renewable Energy, Power Delivery, or Three Phase Power Calculations.
- Previous internship experience.
- Basic knowledge of engineering design principles, design guides and standards.
- Insights of industry trends and developing technologies.
- Fundamental knowledge of construction practices and principles.
- Skilled in Problem Solving, Written Communication, Informing, and Peer Relationships.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Intermittent travel to project sites
- Short-term and long-term relocation to project sites and regional offices
Minimum Qualifications
No experience required. Requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Must have an Electrical Engineering degree from either a recognized ABET accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing
Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
