Accounting Intern - Summer 2025

Kairos Power is a new nuclear energy technology and engineering company whose mission is to enable the world’s transition to clean energy, with the ultimate goal to dramatically improve people’s quality of life while protecting the environment. This goal will be accomplished through the commercialization of the fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor (FHR) that can be deployed with robust safety, affordable costs, and flexible operation to accommodate the expansion of variable renewables.

Job Summary

Kairos Power is offering exciting opportunities for students to join the Accounting team in Summer 2025! This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in accounting and contribute to our mission on delivering an innovative technology that will impact climate change. 

General Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and executing weekly vendor payment batches
  • Maintain accurate vendor information in the procurement system
  • Enter and review invoices in Coupa for accuracy and timeliness
  • Verify travel and expense report compliance
  • Actively engage in continuous learning opportunities and contribute to team discussions
  • Ensure accurate recording of financial transactions in the accounting system
  • Verify and reconcile project costs in the general ledger prior to close, ensuring alignment between systems
  • Perform reconciliations of accounts including cash, prepaids, deposits, fixed assets, accounts payable, and equity
  • Analyze and explain monthly fluctuations in account balances
  • Gain proficiency in accounting operations software, including NetSuite and Coupa
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing Bachelors in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Understanding of accounting principles and practices, GAAP knowledge is preferred
  • Interest in a high-growth technology company, with an appreciation for clean energy
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn
  • Adaptable and flexible in fast-paced environments, adjusting to shifting priorities
  • Ability to work with highly collaborative team
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
  • Prioritizes and ensures safety of one self and others

The hourly range for this position is $25 for employees working onsite at our Alameda, CA headquarters. The range provided in this job posting represents the typical range or starting rate of candidates hired in California.  Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, the market data for your work location, and a comparison to other employees already in the role.
