Social Media and Communications Assistant
The Center for the Power of Music is seeking a Social Media and Communications work study student assistant to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year! In this role, you will assist in the daily management and promotion of events, projects, and resources across our social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. You will leverage your social media and communications expertise and creative skills to produce engaging graphics for flyers, e-newsletters, social media posts, and printed materials. You will attend events periodically to take photos/video for social media and communications purposes. Your contributions will be instrumental in maintaining a strong and effective social media presence that resonates with our target audiences. We are looking for an energetic, creative, and motivated individual who is passionate about social media and marketing!
Compensation: $16/hr, 5-10 hrs/week
Responsibilities
- Regularly develop, plan, schedule, and post content (e.g. flyers, e-newsletters, social media posts, printed materials) for the Center for the Power of Music's social media accounts to promote upcoming projects, events, and resources.
- Monitor engagement and inquiries with a community of followers on social media profiles.
- Brainstorm ideas for social media projects and opportunities to increase engagement; engage with followers; build a repository of content and posts for future use.
- Provide suggestions to the team for improving engagement on our social platforms.
- Occasionally attend events to promote the Center for the Power of Music (informational tabling) and/or take photos/video for social media and communications content.
- Assist with the development of quarterly newsletters, marketing materials, and other content
- Other duties as assigned.
Core Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write engaging content.
- Experience managing various social media platforms, using creative strategies to enhance engagement and reach. This can be personal or professional experience.
- Strong attention to detail including copy editing and proofreading skills; a creative approach to generating appealing content using brand guidelines. Graphic design experience is a plus.
- Able to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
- Able to meet with the CPM Director/Coordinator regularly, occasionally attend events outside of normal business hours, and be on campus regularly
- Able to complete the required Employment Eligibility Verification (I-9). This requires you to provide documents that verify you are eligible to work in the USA.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing a social media platform for a program, company, or business.
- Interest and/or background in communications, marketing, graphic design, visual arts, and/or business.
- Interest or expertise in music or music education a plus, but not required.
- Preference will be given to students with federal work study
