Lab Technician Intern
Role Overview
ABS Global, a Genus Company, has an exciting opportunity. We are looking for a Lab Technician Intern to support supply chain production of conventional or IntelliGen product. The position is located near ABS headquarters in Wisconsin where there are three possible facilities (Leeds, WI; Dekorra, WI or Windsor, WI). The Lab Technician Intern has primary accountability for learning and assisting in the processing, packaging, and quality control of bovine semen. This involves attention to detail, manual dexterity, and working in a cold environment for extended periods of time. The successful candidate will be self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and within a team to meet production goals.
This position works 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Hours are determined during the offer process with the hiring manager.
The hourly compensation range for this position is ($17 - $18) USD. The compensation provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Genus considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
You will:
- Work within a team to process, package, and ensure quality control of bovine semen.
- Maintain great attention to detail in a cold environment for extended periods of time.
- Aid in achieving current and forecasted production goals.
- Contribute both individually and as a team member to ensure responsibilities are completed within production timelines.
- Assist in receiving, warehousing, and shipment of products.
- Rotate through production barns to understand the full process from beginning to end.
- Uphold the Genus core values, mission and vision.
- Position may require work responsibilities outside of normal business hours.
- Performs other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications: (required)
- Current High School graduate or enrolled as a sophomore, junior, senior, or recent graduate at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university.
- Excellent manual dexterity.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Available for 12 weeks during the summer.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Engineering, Animal Science or a related field.
