Summer 2025 Internship - Audit

Your internship with Ally will move you from Educated to Experienced; connecting you with diverse teams and functions across the country. The Ally internship program seeks to guide and mentor students with development opportunities designed to provide a bridge between the academic world and the world of business. 
 

The Audit Internship is designed to build technical internal audit skills, professional development skills, and financial services industry knowledge to explore a career with Ally’s Audit Services. Audit Services contributes to Ally’s success by providing stakeholders with timely, relevant, and objective enterprise-level perspectives and assurance regarding the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal control. Audit teams are organized to support Ally’s major business units and corporate functions and operate in accordance with the International Professional Practices Framework of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).

Group training and hands-on opportunities will focus on achieving a working knowledge of internal audit while developing skills pertaining to assessing risks, understanding internal controls, analyzing information / data, documenting workpapers, and effective communications (written and oral). The internship also focuses on preparing students to transition from “campus to corporate” by developing skills such as networking, presenting, coaching and feedback, leading 1 on 1 discussions with their manager.

Areas of Opportunity: 

  • Information Technology Audit: This team focuses on two primary areas, Information Protection and Risk Management (IPRM) and Enterprise Technology Operations (ETO). These areas support the enterprise and play critical roles in establishing the infrastructure behind Ally's digital enablement and cybersecurity program. Additionally, the Technology audit team is responsible for ensuring applications supporting all of Ally's business units are configured and operating effectively to ensure systems are available and data is kept safe.
  • CFO Group Audit: This team focuses on audits of the CFO organization which includes key business lines and functional activities, such as, Forecasting, Planning and Analysis, Corporate Controller, Investor Relations, Modeling and Analytics, and Treasury. In addition, this audit team is responsible for projects over the Market and Liquidity Independent Risk functions.
  • Compliance and Legal Audit: This team is responsible for auditing Enterprise Compliance and Regulatory Affairs (ECRA), Legal and Business Administration. In addition to performing audits and ongoing monitoring of these areas, the Compliance and Legal Audit Team is also responsible for the Compliance Center of Excellence (COE) within Audit which includes coordinating and collaborating across the audit department to provide subject matter expertise, assistance and guidance related to compliance specific topics.
  • Risk Audit: This team is responsible for auditing the enterprise risk function (e.g. Risk Appetite, New Product, Risk Governance, etc.) and certain independent risk management departments of Ally (e.g. Model Risk, TPRM, etc.). The risk functions that the Risk Audit Team reviews, manages and analyzes Ally’s exposure to various risks, by establishing enterprise-wide programs and providing oversight to support adherence to those programs. The Risk Audit Team evaluates the adequacy/effectiveness of these programs including the oversight/support activities.
  • Auto Finance and Insurance Audit: This team focuses on audits in the auto finance and insurance departments at Ally. The Auto Finance side of this department focuses heavily on the automotive lending business Ally has, Ally’s agreements with third parties in the automotive space, and Ally’s automotive platforms. The insurance side of this department focuses primarily on the insurance products Ally offers and helps our clients finance with their lending agreements.
  • Consumer and Commercial Banking Products Audit: This team is focused on audits covering the core operations of key CCB business lines including Deposits, Ally Invest, Mortgage, and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA). The CCB team is also responsible for auditing functions such as Customer Care & Experience (CCE) and Marketing & Public Relations, which support each of Ally’s core businesses.

The Skills You Bring

  • A rising Junior or Senior (during the time of internship) in a full-time undergraduate program
  • Previous internship experience, extracurricular activities, and leadership experience is preferred
  • A passion for the financial services and technology industry is strongly preferred
  • Candidates should reside in a commutable distance from the Ally location to which they are assigned
  • Eligible to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship from the company now or in the future
