The Role

Lumen offers a fully immersive, 10-week summer internship program. Our interns demonstrate curiosity, innovation, and a passion for advancing technology. Program dates: May 30 – August 8, 2025.

Location

  • This position is fully remote/ work from home.

The Main Responsibilities

Software engineering intern will develop new features in existing automated provisioning systems, research production support issues and code solutions, create new scripts to allow automation systems to communicate with optical network elements, and work on scripting capability simplification to enable non-developers to implement new technologies

 

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Application of principles, theories, concepts, and use of software Methodologies, tools, documentation processes, security protocols, and test procedures to successfully deliver projects.
  • Working with Software Analysts, Scrum Masters/Team Coaches, QA Analysts, Product Owners, and other cross-functional resources to define and deliver business-impacting projects.
  • Provide software installation, testing and reporting
  • Participation in daily scrum ceremonies
  • DevOps continuous integration

What We Look For in a Candidate

Program eligibility is contingent on the candidate’s commitment of the entire 10-week program. No exceptions will be made.

  • Required qualifications
    • Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior level education status at the start of the internship
    • Graduating August 2025 – May 2027
    • Preferred fields include bur not limited to: Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
    • Intern must be able to work 40 hours per week during the 10-week program (May 30 – August 8, 2025)
    • US work authorization is required
  • Proficiency and understanding of:
    • Experience programming in SFDC and/or SFCC
    • A drive to understand emerging technologies, trends and philosophies in marketing, communications, technology and social media
    • Strong drive for results and taking initiative
    • Ability to be resourceful and adaptable Preferred Qualifications:
    • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
    • Knowledge of GitHub, Jenkins
    • Strong sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines
    • Ability to demonstrate ownership and accountability
    • Ability to collaborate and have agility while making effective decisions
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Flexible and adapts well to change

Compensation

Internship compensation ranges depend on each individual’s level of education, geographic location, and experience/qualifications aligned to the role.

 

Hourly Based Pay Range:
Min: $26.00/hour
Max:  $43.00/hour

What to Expect Next

After completion and submission of your application, you will be asked to participate in a virtual video interview. This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
