Overview of Organization: Blue Cross of Idaho (BCI) is the largest health insurance carrier in Idaho. In 2024, BCI finished their technology transformation and updates. This allows us to move forward with automation of our systems. One such automation is what we call Quote to Card (Q2C). This allows our broker community to quote, obtain signatures and flow the information into our systems for renewal of group contracts and/or new business. This allows our groups and their members to obtain their ID cards and access to care within days. Our first roll out will be to our small groups – membership from 2 – 50 and that phase rolls out October 2024. Our second phase will be our medium groups (membership 51-99) will roll out in November 2024. In this internship, you will work with our Small Group Account Manager and her team to do the following:

Responsibilities:

  • Deep dive interviews with our account managers and to identify what is working well and what opportunities do we have for improvement within Q2C (as this will be functional now for approximately 4 months).
  • Package interview results and summarize recommendations for leadership.
  • Review salesforce documentation and workflow to understand how we use this internally for our process and externally for groups and brokers.
  • Identify if the reports analyze what is important based on interview results and identify and report gaps.
  • Review training and documentation available for account management and brokers and to see if these provide enough for each party to be self-sufficient.
  • Track recommendations through the update process and report results.

  • Ability to communicate with leadership with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Critical thinking skills

Skills intern will develop:

  • Understand how the health insurance market works.
  • Ability to use salesforce as a customer, relationship tool.
  • Develop communication and presentation skills.
  • Learn critical account management skills.
