The School of Design recently launched a student-led open education platform called Flourish https://vtflourish.webflow.io/. The platform was designed and developed by an industrial design student in collaboration with Dr. Prochner, and students will generate the content. The platform presents design work outside the canon not typically represented in mainstream design education resources. It will be a resource for design students at Virginia Tech and at other universities. This internship position will involve working directly with Dr. Prochner on the site's further development.

The intern will work with Dr. Prochner to develop an editorial vision for the site, gather and review new content, and post content to the site. Required skills and qualifications: Digital fluency; familiarity with web platforms, including modifying design and text; leadership and communication; and excellent writing and editing skills. Preferred qualifications: experience using Webflow and prior coursework in the College of Architecture, Arts, and Design.

Employment details: 10 hours per week; $15/hour; remote work with weekly virtual meetings; work will take place during Spring 2025 with the potential to continue during Fall 2025.

The intern will lead a small student team generating content for Flourish. The work environment and team dynamic is creative and collaborative. You will be invited to participate in School of Design events!

The supervisor is Dr. Isabel Prochner, who was recently recognized as Young Educator of the Year by her industrial design professional organization. She enjoys collaborating with undergraduate students on projects and is known for being creative and a good problem solver.

You will develop your digital skills, gain experience in writing and editing, and become a leader by working with the project team and collaborating on developing the editorial vision for the site. The website will be an excellent portfolio item for those applying for future work in a related area.
