UIC is seeking an IT Support Associate to join our College of Medicine, Department of Medicine Administration team.  This role is a vital IT team member responsible for providing technical support to faculty, staff, and students. This role focuses on troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues, ensuring a seamless experience for end users. Additionally, the IT Support Associate has an integral role in managing systems, applications, and user requests, ensuring efficient operations within the Department of Medicine.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Technical Support:

  • Provide technical assistance to end users by diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Assist users with basic troubleshooting for university computing resources, including desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
  • Document and track issues end users reported, resolving or escalating them as necessary.
  • Offer basic computer training and assistance for new software and system installations.
  • Coordinate with UIC’s Technology Solutions team to resolve more complex problems.

System Administration:

  • Assist with system administration tasks such as operating system patching, software distribution, and access management through Active Directory.
  • Ensure all software and systems are maintained and updated to minimize downtime and ensure security compliance.
  • Onboarding and Equipment Transition:
  • Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires by setting up their computer systems and accounts
  • Transition current staff to new or updated equipment, ensuring a smooth handover with minimal disruption to daily activities.

Conference Room Support:

  • Support and troubleshoot any AV or connectivity issues in conference rooms.

Process Improvement and Documentation:

  • Identify common technical issues and recommend solutions to improve the user experience.
  • Continuously update internal documentation and knowledge bases to streamline support efforts.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.
  • Collaborate with other IT staff on more significant tasks and projects requiring cross-functional expertise.

 

Minimum Qualifications Required:
 

  1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  2. Minimum 1 years of professional IT experience within IT Support Services which includes demonstrated experience providing end-user technical and troubleshooting support with computer hardware, software and classroom technologies within desktop and networking environments via, telephone, ticketing systems and/or onsite resolution.


Preferred Qualifications:
 

  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Familiarity with desktop and networking environments in professional or educational settings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with users at various skill levels.
  • IT support experience in a higher education environment.
  • Experience with system administration tools such as Active Directory.
  • Familiarity with software installations and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and resolve issues promptly.
