2025 Summer Scholars Program

Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB) 2025 Summer Scholars Program (Developmental).

The DNFSB is seeking juniors in undergraduate engineering, mathematics, or science programs. This job announcement is now posted to USAJOBS.gov and can be accessed at USAJOBS - Job Announcement.

This position is with the Defense Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB) in the Office of the Technical Director. As an independent agency within the Executive Branch, the DNFSB is responsible for overseeing nuclear safety across the Department of Energy's (DOE) nuclear weapons complex. Summer scholars at the DNFSB collaborate with presidential appointees and leading nuclear safety experts to address critical and complex technical challenges that directly impact the safety of both the public and the workforce.

Conditions of Employment:

Must be a U.S. Citizen. 
Must pass a drug screening. 
Must submit a resume and unofficial transcript via USAJOBS.

If requested, must provide an official transcript indicating a 3.4 GPA or higher.

Education:

Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in engineering, mathematics, or science at an ABET-accredited institution. Ideally, candidates are juniors, but other applicants may be considered. An unofficial transcript is required for application.
