Salary Range:  $61,965.00 - $88,045.00

Duties:

Functions as the institution authority on state-of-the-art security equipment such as locks, locking devices and systems, closed circuit television systems, electric gates, and blueprint and schematic analyzing.

Ensures the physical security of the facility as it relates to structural requirements, operations and total familiarization of the life safety codes for the institution environment.

Maintains the armory where weapons and ammunition are stored, handled, and prepared for transportation as needed.

Analyzes mechanical, electrical, locking systems, engineering blueprints, weapon repair and schematics.

Troubleshoots locks and locking devices, and makes necessary repairs using a variety of hand and power tools as they relate to carpentry, electricity, and masonry.

Reads, creates and analyzes manufacturers’ key codes and cuts keys for institutional use only.

Sets up and monitors internal security programs to include instructions and procedures for office closing procedures and locking and unlocking procedures for safes, doors, and vaults.

Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution.

The staff's correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and is performed on a regular and recurring basis.
