2025 Summer Intern - Actuarial Life Modeling (Remote)

Where you’ll work:

All internships will be fully remote.

 

How you’ll contribute:

As an Actuarial Life Modeling Intern, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and improving the actuarial model and data used by Brighthouse Financial. The model, its data, and its results are used to calculate reported amounts on financial statements, satisfy regulatory requirements regarding surplus, assets and liabilities, reserves, taxes, and capital, as well as project amounts used to determine feasible employee raises, bonuses, and corporate spending targets.

 

This position will be part of the life insurance modeling function, but experience will be highly applicable to annuity products as well.

 

In this role, you’ll get to:

  • Gain valuable experience with the FIS Prophet suite of actuarial modeling software for life insurance and annuity products.
  • Practice coding scripts in FIS DCS and variable formulas in FIS Prophet.
  • Learn best practices for managing model assumptions and implementing controls and safeguards consistent with Actuarial Standards of Practice.
  • Collaborate with actuaries in the areas of life insurance Valuation, Projections, and ALM, rather than focusing only on a single area of actuarial practice.
  • Observe, maintain, and improve the entirety of the actuarial calculation and reporting process, from processing of raw data at the policy level to generation of relevant actuarial reports at the company level.

 

We’re looking for people who have:

  • Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors studying mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, or some other analytical field.
  • Actively studying for or taking pre-ASA level exams with the Society of Actuaries.
  • Strong computing and programming skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
