What’s special about this team: This team is very dynamic, playing a crucial role in developing and maintaining the Nutrilite brand. This team drives brand strategy development and direction for Nutrilite while partnering with cross functional team members along the way, managing everything from product development, budget, analytics, brand communication, and identification of innovation and trends to keep the brand relevant.
How would an intern contribute to the team’s success: Jumping in with a fresh perspective, conducting research, gathering and analyzing data on competitors, market trends and consumer preferences which is crucial information for developing strategies and making informed decisions.
An example of a typical project would be: Conducting competitive landscape assessment for protein, Meal replacement powders with focus on flavor offerings – range and top flavors offered globally. Answering the key business question, “what is the optimal flavor range to support the category and still drive growth.” This project would focus on gathering information across competitors along with analyzing internal/external data to understand what the optimal number of flavors could be for Nutrilite to remain competitive. Candidate would be asked to balance business needs with profitability in mind (maintaining manageable inventory, costs, etc.). Previously conducted analysis (case study) would be reviewed for inputs/updates to help guide and understand other brands to be used as possible benchmarks. Project would include the following deliverables:
Clear recommendation(s) for how Nutrilite should approach flavors for Protein, Meal Replacement and other possibly relevant products in the portfolio (e.g. Begin?). Recommendation to include:
How flavors could be swapped out / updated
Consider Amway’s channel / distribution, other cross-functional considerations (ideas that make solid business sense for Amway)
Highlight how recommendation offers competitive advantage for Amway/Nutrilite vs. key competitors.
Considers how the consumer and ABO benefit with this new approach.
Recommendation on further information/research needed to drive towards final direction – if necessary.
Concepts (PPT format with visuals / copy) that bring recommendation to life (e.g. base flavor with boosters/flavor additives)
Map of flavor preferences by key Amway markets.
