Learning and Development Specialist

Job Title: Learning and Development Specialist
Duration:6+ Month's (Possible extensions)
Location:  Devens, MA, 01434,100% Onsite

Work Schedule:Monday - Friday, Regular Business Hours

         
Role Overview:

The Learning & Development Specialist plays a key role in executing the training program at the Devens site. This position is responsible for designing, delivering, and assessing training initiatives that meet performance and quality standards. The role involves training staff, evaluating their proficiency, and ensuring training compliance, often within GMP manufacturing spaces where safety protocols and protective gear are required.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Training Program Implementation: Lead training initiatives that meet regulatory requirements and business goals. Collaborate with Learning & Development and subject matter experts (SMEs) to create effective training plans for new hires to quickly become proficient.
  • Training Delivery: Conduct instructor-led training (ILT) and on-the-job training (OJT) to support various department needs. Provide timely feedback to trainees, identifying gaps for further training.
  • Continuous Improvement: Gather feedback from trainees and managers to refine course content and ensure training aligns with evolving production demands. Regularly update training materials to reflect changes in procedures or new techniques.
  • Compliance and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate training documentation and employee records. Ensure all training activities comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with department leaders to assess training needs and ensure new hires are properly onboarded with access to necessary systems and security.
  • Competency Assessments: Perform ongoing assessments to ensure employees apply learned skills and knowledge effectively in their roles.
  • Administrative Duties: Manage scheduling, ordering of training supplies, and enrollment coordination. Monitor and initiate investigations into any non-conformances when necessary.

Required Competencies:

  • GMP Expertise: Strong understanding of GMP manufacturing environments, processes, and controls.
  • Instructional Design: Proficiency in the ADDIE instructional design model to create, develop, and implement training programs.
  • Training Delivery & Assessment: Experience in delivering, assessing, and improving training content in a variety of settings.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to clearly convey complex information in both classroom and on-the-job training settings.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong collaboration with trainees, colleagues, and subject matter experts.
  • Aseptic Environment Qualification: Ability to work in aseptic environments, including completion of required qualification programs.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field, or 3-5 years of relevant experience in a GMP manufacturing environment.
